Privacy Policy for Vaura
Last updated:
Vaura, a product of Codez Studios, is an AI operating layer for Android: a system-wide assistant that can carry out actions on your device (opening apps, toggling settings, drafting a WhatsApp message, saving a note, etc.) in response to your voice or text requests. This Privacy Policy explains what information Vaura accesses, how it's used, and what stays on your device.
1. Information We Collect
What Vaura accesses depends on the features you actually use:
- Account information: if you sign in with Google or with an email and password, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Firebase Authentication to identify your account.
- Your requests to the assistant: the text or voice commands you send Vaura, along with basic device context (device model, Android version, installed apps you ask about) needed to carry out the request, are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a response or decide which action to take. Voice input is transcribed on-device using Android's speech recognition before being sent as text.
- Notes: notes you ask Vaura to save are stored locally on your device (via on-device Hive storage) and are not uploaded to our servers.
- Device permissions: depending on the action you request, Vaura may ask for permissions such as camera, microphone, storage/photos, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi state, or the ability to install app updates. These are used only to perform the specific action you asked for (e.g. taking a photo to attach to a chat, toggling the flashlight, installing an app update) and are not collected or transmitted to us beyond what's needed for that action.
- Usage analytics: we use Firebase Analytics to understand aggregate app usage (e.g. which features are used, crash and performance data) so we can improve Vaura. This data is not linked to the content of your requests.
- Device/version info for updates: when checking for app updates, your app version and processor architecture (ABI) are sent to our update server so it can offer you the correct build. This request does not include your name, account, or any personal identifiers.
Vaura does not collect payment information, and does not read, store, or transmit your contacts, call log, or SMS messages. Where a permission like Contacts exists in the app but isn't currently used by any feature, it is not accessed.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To process your requests and carry out the action you asked the assistant to perform.
- To authenticate your account and keep your session signed in.
- To check for and deliver app updates appropriate to your device.
- To understand aggregate usage and fix bugs or crashes.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your requests or notes for advertising.
3. Third-Party Services
Vaura relies on the following third-party services to function, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Gemini API — processes your text/voice requests to generate responses and decide on actions.
- Firebase (Authentication & Analytics) — handles sign-in and aggregate usage analytics.
- Google Sign-In — used if you choose to sign in with your Google account.
- WhatsApp (wa.me links) — if you ask Vaura to send a WhatsApp message, it opens a pre-filled WhatsApp chat via a standard wa.me link; the message is sent from your own WhatsApp app, not by us.
4. Data Retention & Your Choices
Notes and local settings stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Account data tied to sign-in is retained until you delete your account. You can revoke individual Android permissions (camera, microphone, storage, etc.) at any time from your device's Settings without uninstalling Vaura, though this may limit the actions the assistant can perform. To request deletion of your account or associated data, contact us using the details below.
5. Children's Privacy
Vaura is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction).
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the information described above. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
